Now here’s the part I just love: Enterprise Incident Management saw fit to send out an Emergency Alert to employees in the MPLS/St. Paul area which I was also alerted about since I’ve got an employee there. I got an EICC Briefing on the same later in the day because I’m signed up for those too. Anything similar for the Bay Area?? NOPE! Apparently we don’t warrant an alert in the midst of a level 5 storm that’s bringing us widespread flooding and power outages, torrential rains, cyclone-force winds, landslides and multiple freeway/road closures.
The good news is that last month, managers in my group were given guidance by our leadership for this type of scenario. Coming into the office would involve a hazardous commute? Work from home and send a note to your manager who’ll save it in the event you show up on an RTO scofflaws report. Illness? Same thing.
Oh, yes! You need to take that boat into the office!! And everyone knows umbrellas are useless in San Francisco!

just tell your boss you're working from home. not that hard. my guess is at some point tomorrow an email will go out indicating you can work from home with managers permission. but regardless. just work from home and tell your manager. you'll be fine.
