Replying to "If they know who, what, where, then why the big waiting game? Why don't they just let these people get on with their lives elsewhere by letting them go rather than keeping them hanging on and wondering! "... maybe because if they told us in November what was coming in January we would have had the opportunity to quit in 2022 and not lose 25+% of our lump sum pension...

"Article 14 in the SE D3 contract"

Remember to advise your union rep on this if you get kicked to the curb when your job is outsourced. AT&T has been doing it left and right for years. Just ask the folks at the Charlotte TRC that their entire group is getting displaced by contractors. Face it you have limited options. Most the time the union higher ups sell you out while taking your money at the same time.

Can you spell Article 14 in the SE D3 contract! “Jurisdiction Of Work” Only Company employees will be doing any construction, maintenance, removal or repair work on cooper and fiber cables. Contractors can Only do unskilled or occasional labor working on the ground like, digging or putting in inter-duct, no working aloft.

“Legacy T represented employees that work in the field for business services aren’t going anywhere, rather, they won’t be let go! There’s too much of a need for technicians performing installations, so they’re staying if they want to!”

Silliest quote of 2023… can you spell contractor? SMH

I hope everyone lands on their feet that gets let go from the AT&T clown show. The mistakes made at the top all these years by id--t CEOs….it’s sickening. I left 12/30 and already miss my friend at T, but it was a move for my health more than anything. Got out of the toxic dump !

It is already happening. The size and scope is entirely depending upon organization, organizational and job function. Some markets may lose more than others based upon existing headcounts. Orgs and jobs which directly impact customers and network quality will see the smallest impact. Orgs and jobs which are more directly tied to capital spending, new projects, growth work will see much larger impact. The closer you are to the customer and how your work impacts customer perception, product delivery and network quality the safer you will be. Thats not conjecture that's right out of the mouth of an AVP.

If they know who, what, where, then why the big waiting game? Why don't they just let these people get on with their lives elsewhere by letting them go rather than keeping them hanging on and wondering! How brutal and heartless can one company be towards its employees! Unbelievable!

If you’re management, they will purposely give you the least amount of notice possible, which it sounds like would be two weeks before you go off payroll. I would guess the notices would go out on a Friday afternoon.
