Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Abdu Mudesir Impact

Looking at this hand picked replacement by Dan, if I were any of Russo’s direct reports particularly those with duplicative roles I would be VERY worried.

It’s time to clean out the 30+ year VZ leaders in GN&T and get some fresh perspective - it’s also not Y*go just for the record.

Why does a dedicated TPD organization, led by an SVP, continue to exist under GNT when there are no new product development initiatives? It may be more effective to distribute the existing TPD projects across multiple GNT VPs.

uh-oh, looks like we have some triggered management mass down-voting again.
I guess the thought of having to memorize "Would you like Netflix with your new phone purchase?" or "Welcome to Walmart" or "Would you like fries with that?" really unsettled them.

Like what ever happened with MEC? Who was the champion of that inside GNT? Maybe that’s a good place to start.

Now that we'll have an actual engineer in charge, one with a PhD at that, I wonder if there will finally be a scrutiny of the actual education and qualifications down the ranks of those in engineering roles, particularly engineering management. If you're a graduate with a degree in marketing, humanities or business administration managing an engineering department, you might want to get that resume updated.

Assume if you are in a redundant role or a role that can be replaced by the new AI stack you have a 50% chance of your position being eliminated in July.

@OP In the corporate world, there’s a phenomenon I like to call “the irresistible charm of the yes man” and I think you’re underestimating its awesome power.

They will charm the new guy in the same way they charmed his predecessors and their way up the corporate ladder.
