Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Asking the experienced folks

I want to hear from people who've moved around in their career. Have you ever worked anywhere with a more toxic environment than this place? With leadership that cares less about its employees? I'm not being rhetorical. I really want to know. Is this just how all big companies are?

Yes, I have worked at places way worse than here. Even with the current buffoons running this place, they seem to want to talk the talk, but can’t walk the walk. Btw just about everyone I’ve met here Director and above would have all been walked out the door at those other companies long ago. That’s just hard truth. Results are what mattered at those places, you don’t deliver you are gone. Terrible environments, very cut throat, but I did learn to work hard, hustle and deliver. None of which seem to matter much here. I’ve rarely seen anyone rewarded for truly delivering here. It’s all about how good of buddies you are with those above you. This place isn’t going to make it with the current L3+ in charge.

I’ve been a mobility tech for almost 30 years. Originally in the central region. They shipped us to the west region a few years ago. And at first, they were awesome. Treated us like adults. And then the big switch, especially once Jeff McKnight took over after Cole left. It’s been bad. Treated like kids again. Extremely micromanaged.

@a4 "What are you are doing to make changes in the area you can control?"

The problem is that all the toxicity is starting at the highest level and being drained down to the lowest levels. The individuals that actually manage people do not have the freedom or flexibility to mange their people. They are only enforcers of bad policy now.

I suspect this is worse than any company since maybe IBM 20 years ago when they basically fired everyone in the US and replaced them in India.

I’ve worked here for 85 years I wouldn’t know. I sure hope they don’t surplus me, I still come to work every god damn day. I got great ideas. I’ll show you how to do long division, you don’t need those whatchacallum spreadsheets.

“ What are you are doing to make changes in the area you can control?”

I’m giving honest and direct feedback on employee surveys, oh wait that didn’t work. I was told loyalty is dead and I should seek employment elsewhere.

Why don’t you STFU you boot licking obnoxious twot waffle? Why does replying with that company line stuff excite you? So weird.

What are you are doing to make changes in the area you can control? This is the better question to ask.

Yes, I have worked in more toxic environments outside the company and left to go to Bellsouth. Now T has made it toxic.
