How come at the end of 2025 we all got a thank you note saying that we did better than ever and how much they appreciate us, then few month go by and they just sp-t on us? They're reaaaally trying to lose all valued and experienced employees. Is common sense in the room with us?

@OP When I was laid off in 2023 I had just marked my 15 year service anniversary. I received my choice of a gift form a list (value probably around $150 for all choices) and my boss made a big deal about the milestone with lunch and team meeting.
Two months later they eliminated my position and gave me only 2 weeks system access to find a new job.
Layoffs are so very often not part of some grand strategy to improve efficiency, but instead a reaction to a stock price drop and analyst questions from the big investment firms. Since we are talking stock market changes here the layoffs can be sudden and unexpected.
