I work in the credit fraud department, where overtime is often offered. However, today, they announced that overtime is no longer available for stateside employees, but the contractors in India will now be able to work overtime. We inquired about the reason behind this decision, and they simply stated that overtime is not a guaranteed benefit. Furthermore, on March 20, they laid off a few remote workers from my department. All of these events make me feel uneasy. Anything like this going on in your department?

@tj yea and they also don't have to pay them vacation, insurance, retirement, or any benefits what so ever. So it's literally just their hourly wage and nothing more.
Hiring offshore saves them 30% minimum per head.
@nv My department manager told us that these “cognizant” contractors are paid $11 an hour
@nv That is exactly why.
I would assume base pay overseas is a fraction of the US pay and I assume there are minimal labor laws there. They sound much easier to exploit.
At this point anyone doing more than bare minimum only has themselves to blame. Shift your focus on job search as your current job is done.
I agree with all of you. Honestly, I been doing the bare minimum since they keep moving the post with the RTO mess. They laid off some of my coworkers. I was extraordinary, I always did extra work and would stay late. But that isn’t going to get me ahead. I’m remote and I am probably next to be laid off anyway. I’m just hanging in there until I find a new job. They just want to replace us with these Indians
I’ve learned to just work bare minimum and close all Us bank accounts. This company doesn’t care about U.S. based employees and the whole rto mess shows it. It’s only a matter of time when those new India campuses open and more lay offs happen here.
The very idea & concept that we're about to have the most fraudulent place outside of Somalia run ANY of our fraud operations in the first place is astoundingly bad.
I've stopped using any credit card when I call & hear an Indian. I'm about to close my U.S. Bank employee account too. I no longer trust my own company with my money.
Nobody else smart should either.
Any department that uses contractors you might want to start looking elsewhere
