Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Mandatory RTO will solve one issue

Judging by posts here but also from what I've heard from people I work with, once mandatory RTO becomes a thing there will be a mass exodus of employees from Wells Fargo. If that happens, the rest of us can relax because there will be no need for layoffs, at least for a while. It's a win for everybody.

If we have to RTO we can bring our dogs to the office if they have Service Animal vests.

You forgot the " /s " on your OP....everyone here knows everyone else just talks big and will never voluntarily leave WFC.

remote-only jobs aren't as easy to come by as they were a year ago. For some specializations - yes, they can command whatever they want, including fully remote work. but for most - not so much.

So what management has done is create yet another reason for people to be less engaged, disenfranchised, bitter with WF. Since there isn't a good alternative, they stay but just do what they need to do to get by.

Project much? I guess we know what you were doing during WFH.

Some of us have been WFH for years and there's never been a complaint about my work product, but now suddenly (some of us) are "better together". It's a grade A crock of S, and so are the bootlickers.

My thoughts are that they basically represent everything wrong with society. If I was a doctor I would tell them to suck it up.

What are your thoughts on those people who have quickly ran to their Drs, stating going into the office would cause too much emotional stress and the lack of safety from getting sick (COVID)? Wherw I work, suddenly the Drs notes arw providing not RTO, while the rest of us have to go in every other week

I think a lot of people just talk and won't do much of forced. The job market will be much different in 2023. Not just with banks, but now even tech.

Many companies that used WFH to scoop up talent is also going RTO now that the labor market is softening. I agree a lot of keyboard warriors won’t leave but even the ones who would have in better times will have a difficult time if RTO is their main concern.

Virtual tough guys. They won't leave, they will stay and do the usual bad quality effort that the people like me will need to clean up. Good news is I am getting the most TVC. Something else for the whiners to complain about it while wondering why their role is headed to India.

@ivu, your bonus is given out early February. They won't be getting rid of anyone in January for not RingTO. A lot of people will still be on vacation in January. I am guessing, but I doubt they won't start truly monitoring for months and then they will change their minds again about RTO - like they always do.

OP is exactly right. Too bad the first respondent doesn't get it. There will be plenty of lazy biatches stick around while plenty of effective workers will leave. Management can't afford to let the poor performers go when the skilled ones leave voluntarily. The more voluntary headcount reduction the easier it is for the managers to keep whats left.

My knee-jerk reaction was the moment they declare mandatory in-office work across the board (I'm not RTO as I was never in an office to begin with, hired as full time remote from day 1) I simply would not go and progress through the disciplinary phases as required until eventually terminated for cause. But I did forget about my Bonus (been here this long, if I have to toe the line for one or two months to get it so be it) and I do have an extended obligation in Q2 that I'd like to be employed up until it starts, it would be nice to be let go right at the start of that. No reason to leave early of my own accord, leaving that bonus on the table and when I want to take at-least a month off shortly thereafter. I'm situated where if it takes me 1-2-3 years to get a position I truly want it won't be any kind of terrible hit.

Might not physically leave right away, but completely stopped caring about my work when my manager said they're pushing more for RTO. If my performance wasn't hurting while WFH, does performance matter at all here?

Good perspective! Plus the people that will be gone will be all of the lazy pikers.
