Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

LIST IS RECEIVED

As a people manager, I can confirm I received list of associates I'll have to let go.

My manager probably received the same.

We all have mandatory trainings tomorrow to break the news in stages on Thursday.

Just like level 4-7 associates, level 8 and above won't know their date until Thursday.

I might well be outside the door after breaking news to two of my exceptional performers on Thursday.

So it is happening.

Severance in 2024 I believe was a 2 weeks per every year of service of 6 months whichever is greater

@c6 I was part of the 2018 shift to agile RIF, 2 weeks paid per year served. A package magically appears at your door on the day it goes down outlining everything.

@c7 it's really unhelpful to communicate this sort of thing for the people willing to put themselves out here to keep us informed. It has shown time and time again on forums like this that there are genuine people trying to give heads up to lessen the blow of bad news all at once.

Fidelity managers do not post on potential layoffs. This is a troll.

Does anyone have any information on the severance package(s) being offered?

@bb managers sometimes do this especially if it falls around QCI window. My former manager did in Q4 2025.

I don’t believe this post . As people manager it’s really struggle to get associate EP and most are capped at top 10% at grade level . How come everyone comes here and say they were EP ?

How do layoffs/severance typically work with 401k vesting? I vest in like 2 months

@bn you are correct. Salary info in an excel - sort by that number and job title. Go down the list when you're at the target $ to cut - there's your list. No notes on who stayed late to resolve a mess for a customer, who cleared up emails Sunday night before coming back from vacation, who logged in during vacation. Take heed. If you're lucky enough to survive this round, polish up your resume and keep your network fresh just in case.

@bm lol they literally happen every quarter by policy. If you're not having one every performance quarter then your manager isnt doing their job.

Will someone please let me know if WI or PI OPS is affected? Feels like we are way understaffed, but what do I know.

@bq EIA is the biggest scam going around lately.

it’s meaningless, given to only budding associates to make them feel “they matter”

or to individuals with high ego and low emotional quotient

What is EIA

by

Post ID: @bp+1kqwf0b1z

@bk EP means you get bigger bonus, chairman share, maybe bigger raise

BUT that also means you’re now expensive and showing incompetent leaders that you can do job of 4-5 people on your own.

there are quite a few EP in our team, but sadly EP and EIA are just the carrot the managers dangle before giving the stick

EPs being cut?

I was pleasantly surprised by my EP rating last year. But it sounds like that was a trick?? Secret code for gtfo???

@bd well my friends meeting is now a “quick check-in“ for 10 minutes rather than a one on one

@bb as a manager who is not laying anyone off, I also re-purpose my 1:1s so I don’t have to schedule a separate call for a QCI.

@bc on top of it, what about skip levels in TX or NC where they have space issues. They are not going to cut the people in the sites that have room.

@bb our QCI (quarterly check ins) are due Friday, so that isn’t concerning to me.

@ap stop fear mongering. That’s bullsh-t and you know it. My skip is in Ireland. Everyone under her is in US. Does that mean every team is let go?

@ba I have a peer who’s 1:1 was relabeled to QCI though for Thursday which was strange to me. Why re-label it?

by

Post ID: @bb+1kqwf0b1z

I had my actual QCI with my manager today and it was exactly that, my QCI. So I wouldn't read too much into having your QCI scheduled for Thursday meaning that you're being let go, it could just be your QCI.

So no one who is below grade 4 is being let go? Finally a reason to be happy to be undervalued!

If I am a dev in same place (WLK) as my manager and my team (devs and QE) but not my skip level(NC) should i be concerned? would they just cut everyone in wlk?

by

Post ID: @b6+1kqwf0b1z

The being in the same location as a skip level is flatly false. My entire department would be let go. That’s not happening. A zero percent chance all will be let go.
