Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Carryover PTO

I had 8 days of carryover PTO from 2025 that I wasn’t able to use. My termination date was April 16. When I reached out to HR, I was informed that I would be paid for the unused carryover PTO since I wasn’t able to use it before the April 1 deadline due to being impacted earlier in the year.

I received a payment today that appears to include accrued PTO through my termination date, but it doesn’t seem to reflect the carryover PTO from last year.

Has anyone had a similar experience, or can confirm whether carryover PTO from the prior year is paid out in this situation?

Does anyone know how Rule of 60 PTO payout works when RIF'd? Do you have to initiate retirement to sync up with termination in order to get full payout?

I reviewed my recent paystub and see that I was paid for 60 hours of PTO, which I believe reflects my accrued PTO for 2026. However, I also had 68 hours of carryover PTO from 2025.

Although HR previously indicated that I would be paid for the unused carryover PTO, it does not appear to be included in this payment.

The carryover expired so I wouldn't expect you to be paid for them after expiration date.

I wasn't Rif'd but left on my own terms. Afrer I resigned on WD, my notice period became non working notice period. My last non working day was around mid-Feb. At the end of the first week of Feb, the paycheck I got reflected pay of last 2 weeks of Jan. The next paycheck I got...towards end of Feb was about what I would expect for 2 weeks non working notice from 1st Feb to mid Feb plus 80 hours of carryover vacation plus few hours I must have accrused in 2026 up until my last day in mid Feb

So yes, Citi did pay up everything owed to me - notice period pay, carryover vacation pay plus 2026 accrused up until my last day

@OP

I emailed the HR distribution
DL. They will tell you the carry over and accured days. Not sure of the timing as I haven't seen the latest pay stub.

I have written confirmation from HR stating that I would be paid for the unused carryover PTO. What would be the best way to follow up or escalate to ensure this is honored?

I have a similar question. I also had several carryover days that I had not used yet before I was notified of being RIF'd earlier this year. And, like you, HR verbally told me that yes I would be reimbursed for unused carryover. When the docu-sign separation agreement arrived, it did not explicitly state that there is reimbursement for unused carryover so I sent an email to HR asking for confirmation in writing that I would get it. It's been a few weeks and HR never replied to my email. My termination date is still in the future, so I don't know how this is going to play out.
