It did not have to be this way, every single choice was made to strip the dignity from employees. Remember that as painful as this is, you are in control of your response. Be smart on your own behalf, contact an attorney if you have questions so that you can get answers that apply to you. Get that contact information from colleagues to keep in touch. Look out for each other. If you are feeling hopeless, in the US call 988.

Grow up, layoffs happen. It’s not personal
No you have to take the emotion out of it.
Do you really think the top execs wake up and think ‘how can I sc--w employees today?’
Obviously not - people are usually just driven by $
They might wake up and think ‘how can I reduce headcount by another 5%’
Focus your anger and comments on that.
Reality check needed.

@cy EXACTLY! It's painful enough to be laid off. To feel that it was done in a specific manner to deprive an employee of a financial cushion is underhanded and cruel. Judging someone's reaction is unnecessary, It's valid to have very raw feelings. Just don't operate heavy machinery while doing so.
@cw The real problem here is that FIS didn't just lay people off, they specifically schemed against employees to remove several months worth of severance obligation to them.
Some of the posts here really seem childish, maybe you are fairly young and have not experienced the real corporate world. Companies cut in lean times, don't ever go to another corporate job or any job unless you have some type of contract, most companies will not do this though. I'm at the end of my working career, but I have been laid-off before, it hurts, but YOU have pull yourself together and move on. You will find another job.
“every single choice was made to strip the dignity from employees.”…come on, what baloney.
