@b8 No one should be working from home. Unless weather or short-term health. That's half the problem with companies . Only people think it's good are the ones doing it.

@a8 This is about the smartest comment on this thread. Sadly people working in PJs at home between ball games and window watching , don't like to hear truth

@b5 exactly who care so everyone should be able to work from home, not just select people

Doubtful. We need more context.

@b4 Entire teams get to work from home for several months at the beginning of the year for “year end”. Other teams for over a week every month for “month end”. Some individuals don’t have to show up because they have special circumstances in their family, etc. It’s far from consistent.

@b4 who cares? As long as they perform

@b3 How has it been inconsistent in Lake Mary? Isn't everyone required to come in 3 days a week? Or are some people not doing that?

@az There’s been an inconsistent work from home policy (Lake Mary).

26 posts have been made, but no one has yet mentioned which offices are being affected. While several posts mention Ashburn, that’s just one office.

@az The inconsistency already exists and yeah, it’s not going over well on the teams with people in both situations.

I don’t mind coming in 3 days a week as I have a short commute. And my boss is very flexible with me and kids’ activities.

But others are going to be very upset if there is an inconsistency in WFH policy based on where you live.

On the bright side, this would be a complete opposite of AT&T policy (5 days in office and 6 hrs minimum per day).

@ax They can’t justify it, but luckily for them there are plenty of boot-lickers who happily drive to the office and think that means they work harder and are protected. It’s nuts that a company can force employees to spend money and time and risk their safety to get to a job that can be done from home. I’ve been WFM for 15 years and I can’t fathom going into an office just to log into webex - I mean blue jeans, I mean Google meet, whatever - in the year 2026AD. It’s d-mb and wasteful and I hope they close all the offices so none of you have to deal with it.

And will the unfortunate employees that are still near an office and have to commute 3 days a week be compensated for the difference that WFH team members don’t have ro incur? How can they justify half a team being forced to commute to office 3x a week and half the team can work from home full time!? It’s BS

@as In November, my director cut the person sitting next to him. He did not cut anyone from another office or anyone working from home. Being in an office isn’t a magical shield. Your manager cares about getting their bonus and they know the best path to that is to retain the strongest people, regardless of where they sit.

@as a good manager will RIF the weakest performer. They should take into account all performance factors, including what the in-office person contributes by being in office. As a mostly WFH employee because of my ridiculous office situation, I'd like to be judged on what I contribute to this company, all factors considered, and let the chips fall where they may. That's the only result that benefits our customers and shareholders, and if my nanager was smart, my manager. They should add in the extra 10 hours a week I'm sitting at my desk working and not commuting.

If they close 39 offices and make everyone home based, is "location strategy" out the door? Dan seems to think it's ridic but Sam is still hanging on. Also, if we become home based, is base pay still determined by geographic regions, so like if I live in a lower paying state now and become home based and move to a higher paying state, will I get a geographic/cost of living raise? Maybe that has to wait until annual cycle restarts?

@an do you understand that if a director has to cut a certain number of people from their team, and they have to choose between someone in a random office different than theirs (or working from home) they will most always choose to cut the people not in their office? It’s not rocket science.

to all the dummies saying " iF yOu cAn Do yOur wOrK fRom anYwhEre.." don't ya think the company has been long well aware of what can be done from where for like 20 years now? Whether you are in a VZ office orworkign from home, if the compnay CAN get someoen cheapoer to do your job, of course they will. As we've seen though several waves of layoffs now, being in an office is ZERO protection.
Frankly, when you say d-mb things like this is shows your very limited understdanding of the work the work that your fellow Verizon employees do, and also just how things work in general. It's a failure of comprehension and imagination. You have a simple mind, so you need simple explanations for things.

Does a dispatcher need to be in a VZ office? Why ?
Does the person provisioning circuits need to be in a VZ office ? why ?
Do peopel who moinitor and troubleshoot our transport network need to be in VZ office? WHy ?
Do finance/accounting/ etc need to be in an offcie ? Why ?

Just how do you think this stuff works? Do you think people are walking around handing papers to each other ? The world has changed, at least try to keep up a little bit

Thats how it went down toward the end of last year. About the same number and about the same notice. As far as I could tell there was zero corrrelation between those affected and those who ended up being cut in the Great RIF of 2025

Working from home is nothing more than asking to be replaced in the future. If done at home, it can be done anywhere.
