Same in other companies like Cummins and Accelera. Protect your own behind at all cost and if needed, throw a coworker under the bus. But before doing so, sit in their neck and waive to attract attention.

OP, that’s discrediting our esteemed management. They have more skills than that. They are also good at taking credit from other people’s work and putting them in powerpoint decks, namedropping the CEO for any reason, and avoiding accountability when things go wrong.

Research the manager before you move roles. Don't accept offers from managers you know have a bad reputation no matter what the pay bump.

This is how you can save yourself and avoid others getting into bad situations.

A manager who can't hire to save their life is noticed pretty quickly by leadership. Bad PLI and VOE gets the spotlight on them. That's how to combat bad managers.

Your manager’s poor ideas become your poor ideas because you didn’t try hard enough to publicly embarrass your manager with his own stupidity infront of his peers and superiors. You have to be willing to get fired to avoid a PIP.

It’s the management culture that has been built up over decades by the CEO, his predecessors, and much of the top leadership especially on the Automation side. Honeywell has always been a company of the self-serving, and everyone has to adopt the mindset of doing what works best for them as there are no systems or processes that will manage your career for you. I choose to work with integrity and try to always do what’s right for the business, but I also have learned not to dwell on things when others with different intentions take things in a different direction.

I find that my number one job is to get my boss promoted, preferably to some job in an entirely different business. Regardless of their competency doing their job for them and wishing them well as quickly as possible has ALWAYS served my interests. In 40 years I have seen many mgrs , directors, And VPs move up and fail. Meanwhile I have never been unhappy with my raise or bonus and have reached as high as I would ever want to rise in the rat race pecking order.

That’s pretty true. I flip houses on the side and make about the same money with 1/10th the effort. I work Honeywell because it is steady. So far have avoided the pip lottery. The first time a manager tries to pip me will be the same day my laptop and drives get sent fedex to IT. ( fedex provides receipts). Severance is nice but unrestricted and truthful conversation is more fun.
