Workday - Personal Holiday error

Realized I still had 8 hours of "Personal Holiday" remaining so tried to book it today. Getting an error when trying to update the "Quantity per Day" field - "Unpaid absence is not allowed for Personal Holiday. The Personal Holiday request for 12/23/2022 exceeds the maximum amount of 0 unpaid Hours." Won't let me submit with 0 hours, won't let me update to 8 hours - but says I have 8 hours remaining.

I guess I'm just taking it and leaving it in my balance. Really not been impressed with this Workday tool for anything. Who vetted this???

Figured someone else may have experienced this and probably faster/easier posting here than using the helpdesk.

I have a solution to how to simplify CA sick time for those confused:

Step 1: don’t call out

That’s it. There is no step 2.

Problem solved.

hrs implementation of California sick time and there eventual explanation of it the middle of the year was completely confusing. it does get double xonted but comes out of both buckets when used, it is more just there for accounting purposes. what will be interesting is how it will act when carried over into 2023 and someone uses more sick time then then they have accrued pto. was much easier in time tracker where they have you 3 days taken away from pto and any unused at the end of the year was added back as regular pto the next year.

PEBCAK...Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair...LOL. We've all been there, OP! But yes, to your point, WorkDay could be better with their UI.

I am still not sure how CA sick days work in workday..when I took a sick day, it got deducted from my PTO and my sick time still has about 68 hours.. I understand that WF takes sick time out of PTO but what’s with the total.. I miss time tracker which was simple..

Have a similar problem, def used all my time in a bucket of time, and it’s telling me I have some arbitrary number of hours with a long decimal remaining. Just decided to ignore it because I know I used what I was actually awarded and that HR is useless.

My workday has time to 6 decimal points. For example I have 0.812343 hours of volunteer leave left and can't take it. HR says it is working as expected (My work schedule is 32 hours/wk).

As all things WF does - it’s a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This would be fine if they followed the rest of the Agile methodology and iterated from there but never find past initial release!

My husband’s company uses Workday and it’s great, he loves it. His implementation has features that actually work and do a bit more than ours.

Workday is pathetic. And it probably cost a bo-b in software and consulting fees .

Never mind - I'm an id--t. I have 8 hours floating holiday left, not 8 personal holiday. Although I still think Workday stinks. What kind of helpful error message was that?
