Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Data Townhall

It’s been a few months. What’s the verdict on the new GM?

Are we offshoring all data jobs in the next couple of years?

The only takeaway for me was the OE moment. Basically somebody executed some script that ran up a $4m bill in a day. That seems like a fire-able offense. Which id--t did this and that’s one expensive OE moment.

Oh and also a very long winded meeting where every manager talked about how they’re going to do AI, except half of our talent have already quit, with more of them coming next month after the bonus check clears.

I guess the answer is more EY.

clueless. has no idea what her org does and cant be bothered to learn. Put her tech managers up shotg-n style to hope something sounded relevant. q&a on how we were supporting 50% process reduction... no clue. Like she hadnt even heard that guidance. what is clear... visited Engine and will enable moves. Exactly what she was hired to do. robust participation from Engine in the APAC session.

@OP it’d be great if she spent time learning her own organization rather than saying she’s learning our business in her onboarding boondoggles visiting locations that don’t matter.

External GM. Would greatly benefit from a mentor who knows chevron way behaviors. Their Goal of building an Engine workforce (2 days in the office to retain the talent) while making it incredibly difficult and time consuming to be part of the US workforce (who are building the Engine). What could possibly go wrong?!?!? It’s about how we treat others isn’t it GM? Fear based leadership is so over… right? Was hoping so ….

GM of data is 100 percent out of their wheelhouse. They are clueless so they look to appease the cio. Who also, is clueless. Only the eai team knows what's up and all the talent there is on their way out the door as the VP position opened up for an external hire.

Oh what a surprise. Data czar from Shell building an India empire… and oops, lack of OC and really, OE, resulted in a massive mistake of compute waste in a day. Chevron could have drilled a well instead. It’s all fun and games until you think about what a big mistake that was. And all we got was an OE moment.
