Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Engineered Humiliation

Let's call it what it is.

There's a particular kind of cruelty that doesnt scream.

No permanence. No space. No autonomy. Police in the lobby. Badge logs. Presence monitored like attendance in detention.

Five days in office — not because the work demands it,
but because control does.

And then you ask:
"Why is the morale low?"

Dignity doesnt disappear overnight.
It erodes — policy by policy.

Engineered humiliation that nobody deserves, it subtle.
It smiles in town halls.
It calls itself "transformation"

Loyalty isn't dead.

Respect is.

Open working spaces make me feel like I am part of a team. Everyone is working together with common goals.

Hey “see you on the commute” guy …

Still a boring and not even ironically funny comment. Try harder. You’re an embarrassment.

‘ What unique worth or value do you add to merit a permanent or private desk?’

Here we go. Another tech that sits in a 30,000 sqft central office by himself all day with a tv blasting in the break room chiming in. Go work your 3 tickets and stay out of grown folks business.

If you don’t like it then find another job somewhere else. If you can’t move on from this then su-k it up.

“ It’s not that bad. I go to my cube in the morning, put my headphones on, put a movie on my phone and just work.‘

What bldg are you in that still has cubes? We sit at side by side desks in rows or tables. Use headphones but still see everyone’s bathroom break walk-by. Don’t forget the people who stand up to work all day with direct view to my face. Can I wipe my nose in peace, dam! I used to try to keep it professional but now I just openly play vids on my phone. My care level is dropping with every day of disrespectful treatment.

Talk about humiliation… wait until you find out about their hidden cameras in the bathrooms. Oops, cats out of the bag now. Smile and say cheese!

5 days office and open floor spaces are current industry standards. This isn’t the 80s anymore.

Whatever T can do to encourage you to quit.

That’s the end goal.

To work, you must
Be in open spaces
No cubicle
No corral
Collaboration. Jubilation.
Five. By. Eight.

See you on the commute!
