Hi, my friend joined the firm in the middle of the year and she didn’t get a merit increase. Is that common practice at the firm? I read that some people at the firm didn’t get any merit increase either.

In the first year, your lucky if your manager even acknowledges you have PTO.
common practice for all employers in my experience (at least large companies). the argument is that a merit increase can't be justified for someone who's been in the role less than a year and still learning the ropes, etc. also the person would've just recently had the chance to negotiate their comp and if they didn't like the offer they could've declined it then. this approach allows managers to give slightly higher raises (but still nowhere near high enough usually) to employees who aren't new and haven't had a chance to negotiate comp lately, etc. it's almost the only way to get more funds to them when the manager has a finite pool of funds, which can be especially important if they're underpaid (as many longtime employees are).
Give it up, Charles. You are the only person in the world who calls Wells Fargo THE FIRM.
Did you not realize this page is anonymous and you don’t need to do the “my friend” thing?
'Radioactive' song The Firm?
Or Tom Cruise movie The Firm?
“The firm”?? WTF.
@a6 cookie? You mean half a tictac.
And it won’t even keep pace with inflation.
'The firm'???
This isn't Wells, Fargo & Company...
She actually got 10% raise, just doesn't want to tell you.
It used to be that you got a prorated increase but not this year.
No need to start a new thread. Are you Gen Z? You expect a cookie when you haven't even put in a full year yet?
Do you normally attempt to question why your friends dont get raises or is this a special occasion?
“My friend”=me
“She”=him
“Some people”=no one
your friend or yourself . what a joke
Your friend?
