Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Compensation 2026

TIAA hasn’t given raises to employees with salaries over $100k the last few years.

Will this change for 2026? Will anyone be receiving pay raises?

Bonus? Flat? Higher than normal? What can we expect from compensation talks?

@qx congrats and ditto for me

Lol extension for what now if they could extend me until the end of 2026 or even longer then why not just make an offer to 50% of the Denver staff to be fully remote… what a great decision by management to lose 90% of talent and experienced folk needlessly.

If I’m being honest, if I was removed, I’d be doing 60+ hours a week instead of the 40 minimum I did there with those stupid 24 hours in the office for an increasingly emptying office of less and less people collaborating on what’s our next move versus how to make the company succeed.

I declined relo to Frisco, took my severance and got out early. (Loving my life right now, by the way!) What is this extension you speak of? For Denver people to continue remotely for a time after they end the building lease? Because they cannot hire enough bodies for the tax break in TX?

@k0 I declined relocation to Frisco and the extension. Best decision I have made in my life.

Also I heard most extension offers were nullified before even getting to Denver employees so not sure what you are talking about.

And yet just about everybody took the extension if it was offered. Don’t stand up for yourself, just accept another year of work without any raises. TIAA does a great job at conditioning its employees to not expect much. Nothing is ever going to change though, TIAA’s employees are much too old/outdated for the people to go out looking for new jobs, so they allow themselves to be strung along and treated poorly.

When will we know how much % of a raise we'll get? Will it at the same time when we find out bonus amount?

Upper management has confirmed merit raises this year, even those making more than 100k.

@ag keep in mind, much of the extra comp and bonus money the last few years has been allocated to the C-Suite and Severance Packages.

You can calculate the minimum amount of your bonus now...the variable percentage based on your rating...in regards to raises...the workers that will receive raises this year are those who current salaries are below others in the department....it is not longer based on 100k rule...

I’ve heard that the bonus pool will be smaller this year…at least for my department.

Well, considering budgets are shrinking and we’ve yet to stop layoffs, I wouldn’t expect raises. Maybe a small uptick in bonus to try and please us peasants, but no clue how they will manipulate this new performance sale to avoid that.

I’d say don’t get your hopes up.
