Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon is already backfilling jobs with contractors in Cary

Saw on LinkedIn two postings from contracting companies with job titles “Telcommunications Specialist” for Seneca Resources Company, LLC and “Network Management Operations Manager III” for Apex Systems.

The latter specifically mentions using tools such as VEC, 3 days a week in the office in Cary, contract to hire. “Manager” being a bit of a misnomer. The job description read like an engineer job, so I imagine they mean Engineer III. Pay range $41-48/hr.

I've seen roles listed with HCL for Verizon, with pay rates of half what Vz salary was ($50-> $25)

I reviewed your thread and found this post. I don't believe it's for backfilling Riffed employees because the job was posted on 10/29/2025 and requires a public trust, indicating it's Verizon but federal. https://www.apexsystems.com/job/3010735_usa/network-management-operations-manager---iii

@a2 you’re right. It really is a shame. Both that recent RIFs can’t apply and that they’re probably undercutting wages in doing so. This layoff was an intentional over-cut to clear the books, then rehire (but not really, it’s contractors) after the 1st.

Perhaps someone will be able to time it just right to where they can convert between the 6 month and 1 year mark and keep their vacation accrual where they left off.
