Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Anyone else ready to volunteer as tribute?

I never thought I’d feel this way, but when the next round comes, I’ll be happy to step forward if given an opportunity. That’s how worn down Cisco has made me.

A career in IT is BS these days. Just remember this: empty vessels make the most noise. All complete sh-t on Linked-In with as many references to AI and Quantum as possible without knowing what the fu-k they are talking about.

I’ve seen people do it. Log a HR request, don’t work through your manager if you are serious. The advice I got was to not mention it to your manager as it could be seen as harassment. Going through HR will have legal involvement to protect the company.

Also I believe it will protect you from the PIP route. Don’t quote me on that.

You first. I’ll resign after you resign.

Overall, it just feels like the new world of tech is being driven by unqualified newer management, with little experience beyond social media and baloney philosophies based on the current marketing buzzword of AI.

Ah for the old days when the paradigm was moving the needle without boiling the ocean. Circle back to old management, do a deep dive then sync with us again.

It is called nostalgia and just seeing how life is back on the farm. So what that a person revisits the past. Sorry I have not passed your approval test, and that you are calling b-sh!t. Hail Cesar, I guess we will never be friends. Tragedy.

100% on the fear factor. Especially to those raising a family and having others relying on the "stability" of a career at Cisco.

I was restructured in the midst of sending our children through college. Ironic. Because six months before my LR, I was promoted and received several awards that year.

I went on to much better jobs, three in a row. I should have left on my own accord long ago.

I do however believe the overall industry is at a crossroads of turndown. I was just restructured again, from my current company. Luckily, I am at a financial state of being able to retire.

Overall, it just feels like the new world of tech is being driven by unqualified newer management, with little experience beyond social media and baloney philosophies based on the current marketing buzzword of AI.

Don't question them however, because they are indeed connected, and serving as the minions of the higher ups across companies now pursuing the new AI vision, which is, for the most part; fluff. Senior leadership does however need cheerleaders to push the crud. That is where we are at.

Time to get away from this woe, once and for all. Good luck if staying in this distorted version of reality.

Cisco keeps you guessing to keep employees on their toes, and that gets maximum productivity. Fear plays some role into it.
