If you have the retirement points then Oxy would cover insurance for your spouse. The other points made make sense.

@vn+1kdmcgmy6 - There are reasons that a person at 70 would need to keep working. Things like a younger spouse not on Medicare yet, and the Oxy insurance is needed to cover them. They were under the 5 year minimum years at Oxy. A divorce or other major issue drained their savings. Taking expensive medication that is not covered by Medicare Plan D. Those are just a few reasons one might need to keep working after 70. I would not be so hard on those needing to keep working.

You’re at risk for having your head examined for dementia. Anyone over 70 who didn't take the package has lost their marbles.

If you like your work and that is preventing you from retiring then just retire and start a hobby. Your hobby could be putting together PowerPoints to present to your family to manage them. They really only that.

You should have taken the VSP and given the younger generation a chance to avoid even one person being laid off. You have had your chance to make money.

Over 70 and you didn’t take the VSP? Why would you not take the VSP? You must be kidding.
