Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

ACE Mobility Layoffs

It’s known there will be “targeted” layoffs in ACE 1Q. You have to assume some of those supporting sunset products and copper would be affected. What are you hearing on the mobility side?

The comment about not needing all the RF people doesn’t reflect what RF does. They are primarily responsible for the performance and optimization of the network. The need to continue focusing on those functions does not go away unless one wants the network to look like and perform like trash.

AT&T Switched Ethernet days are numbered as well. All that work can be done in India.

“Did you mean ASE? AT&T Switched Ethernet perhaps....“

I've heard mobility network investment programs have been cut hugely and not just for 2023. It goes way beyond that for several years. Some of these programs have been cut to almost nothing. Not sure how they are going to compete? Maybe they have quit trying.

No way you can justify all the RF people, construction people, and regional and national support people. The program capital cuts are the foundation of the Surplusing coming in Jan and after. I'm betting most of 2023 will be nothing but surplusing and outsourcing to contractors. January is just step 1. Stankey and the C-Suite will get their bonuses, you can take that to the bank.

5-10% in mobility, network. Confirmed. As mentioned below, with build plan cut it only makes sense that they’ll come for heads (again).

Mobility impacts will be to those groups in which capital cuts have impacted the 2023, 2024, 2025 POE build plan.

ACE pretty much does fiber only now. Support would be repair techs. Copper rehab work pretty much ended 5 years ago.
