the entire industry has excess capacity (read "too many people for too little business") so employers have the upper hand now.

when underwriters' RTO was delayed, it was a tight labor market for underwriters and all other operations staff related to booking a loan. Not anymore

Of course after three years of touting the department was permanently remote

Notice came out today, Home Lending to RTO in 2023. This company really knows how to turn the stress on, after 13 straight months of layoffs, now they RTO.... my office closed, will they now ask me to commute 2+ hrs to an office in another state and face income taxes of 10%, or lay me off? This management needs some serious people skills. I have never seen a company demand such loyalty from their workers with nothing of value in return, where is their loyalty to their team? So sit here in limbo for more months to come? Geesh

Absolutely no indication that I am seeing. Have not had a single layoff

It has been stated before on this forum that Mortgage was eventually going to be sold off. Always told no way that would ever happen. Seem plausible yet?

SO, now like the rest of the company? Good. No reason they are anymore special than any other group

Translation: Chuckles wants out of the mortgage biz. Lots of good people will leave because there's many WFH opportunities elsewhere in that sector depending on the role. The board need to jettison this guy before it's too late.

Do they even have mortgage processors and underwriters anymore at WF?

On our all team- year end call for underwriters, it was hinted at, but nothing definite stated. Said they are looking at it and might be a hybrid, but that some people don't have offices to RTO to because offices have been closed. Not looking forward to any RTO, would like to have some work though.
