BS to these articles. I have a job and have been looking since June.
For you pups out there, that was NOT the case in 2000 or 2008. Tech employment crashed hard. Jobs went to India whether that was appropriate or not.
It’s been many years since then, but in tech time it’s been more like decades. Or maybe a century.
Since then, the mobile device market was created and took off like a rocket. Don’t think so? Ask yourself a question: When’s the last time you got a reminder PHONE CALL from a HUMAN for an upcoming appointment? For me it’s been years. I get texts. Or those stilted robot calls. Call the power company when your lights go out? App, not a phone call.
The point is that the tech ecosystem is now so vast, so important to global economy that it will consume as many workers as it can get. While continuing to present us with vast new opportunities, like AI. Which will continue to feed and enhance this overall model.
The pointy headed bosses and TPTB (and their BoDs, mostly old white guys) all know this. Since so many are stuck in the past, with management “stone tools”, ginning up recession, layoffs, PIPs, general fear is all they know to get back in control.
Remember this when the media (controlled by too few orgs), your sr management, etc., are all going gloom and doom. While the job market keeps percolating (a situation that they HATE but cannot do anything about).
Got luck finding an IT job in this job market highly infected by laid off applicants for zillion of companies
Anything is better than Oracle.
A fresh start is refreshing!
