Back in January, I told myself I'd be out of Verizon by the following year, and I really thought that was realistic. Instead, it's nearly 2026, I've been applying nonstop, and the only real movement I got was almost being pushed out instead of leaving on my own terms. The job market's been rough for a long time, way longer than most people acknowledge.

Try upping your skills to make yourself more desirable. There is no point firing off CV's and applications if you haven't got something they want. It is a hirers market and we all need to make ourselves more relevant if we want to move or simply get back into work.
Our customer service is so bad, there is no way in he-l they will right the ship. I may switch to a competitor. It’s painful to try and get something fixed. AI su-ks and if you get a human across the ocean they su-k worse….
@OP ride the verizon wave. Hard to beat it. Times everywhere will just get worse with AI
@OP do not quit your day job. Keep treading water until you find another gig.
Sounds like you've still got a job, so that's a better position to be in for a job search.
Given you're searching for a job "on the side" while still employed I'm not at all surprised you're still looking.
I found that when I was unemployed looking for a job I actually found a position quicker because that's what I was focused on accomplishing.
In any case, keep plugging away.
