@fh yeah…about anxiety, they’ve denied a colleague who had documented anxiety.

@fg To me the options are
1- move outside of the commutable distance, whatever they decide that’ll be
2- quit and join a company that actually deserves our talent and loyalty
3- get a doctor’s note for crippling anxiety to grant you an exemption, as that is recognized by ADA (I don’t condone lying or exaggerating but it technically could work)

How do we push back? This will be bad for employees and bad for the business. We should’ve unionized.

@f8 Isn't this what is already required or am I missing something? "associates working remotely are expected to be logged in and engaged during normal business hours for their specific work schedule - AT THE SAME LOCATION FOR THE ENTIRE DAY."

@f8 Is India within commutable distance? I guess so...

@f8 holy cr-p. To be announced literally 2 weeks before Christmas. Our leaders are horrible human beings.

It’s 100% accurate. All future home office hires will be within commutable range. 4 days a week starting June 2026. Previously grandfathered home-office arrangements will end (minus those granted under ADA). Associates on campus are expected to be ON campus and associates working remotely are expected to be logged in and engaged during normal business hours for their specific work schedule - AT THE SAME LOCATION FOR THE ENTIRE DAY. HBA people leaders in grades 13 and up will be required to work 1 full week per month on a home office campus (4 consecutive days).

@f6 wouldn’t put it past them to expand the commutable distance radius. Ba----ds.

As a former therapist, I would bet my life savings that several members of ELT would be diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder.

People with ASPD may have a limited capacity for empathy and can be more interested in benefiting themselves than avoiding harm to others. They may have no regard for morals, social norms, or the rights of others. People with ASPD can have difficulty beginning or sustaining relationships. It is common for the interpersonal relationships of someone with ASPD to revolve around the exploitation and abuse of others. People with ASPD may display arrogance, think lowly and negatively of others, have limited remorse for their harmful actions, and have a callous attitude toward those they have harmed.

This is not normal behavior of well-rounded and empathetic human beings.

@en how soon do they think the announcement is coming?

This is clearly a move for:
1) optics and more control over employees; and
2) hoping to further reduce headcount without having to pay severance

My spouse confirmed that her leader advised that the increased RTO message is coming. It's like ELT hasn't paid attention to the number of HBA exemptions have been granted due to anxiety issues that they've caused with their horridly timed announcements, 8 months of waiting on pins & needles to find out whether or not you will have a job, etc. Makes me want to move just outside of the STL metro so that I can avoid the 40 minute drive to go 20 miles (with the added benefit of fewer people around me).

Set a firm standard whatever that is and let a director or department determine how much time in office is necessary for their teams. Seems to be a lack of authority and autonomy for directors and department leads.

@bq Totally. I work harder, longer, and get more done from home than I ever do in the office.

@bq If there is any truth to this claim and OP isn't just stirring the pot, I think we're at a point where SM, KJ, DC, etc. need tarred and feathered. They know how deeply unpopular the return to office mandate was, and they would be doing this purely out of cruelty, spite, and their fragile egos needing or feeling in control.

I can't wait until PP and her weak leadership leaves this firm. I hope the next managing partner cleans house. What a travesty of morals and the human condition SM, KJ, DC, and HM are. They have no business being in the positions they're in and don't realize they are lottery winners of being at the right place, at the right time - they are not more talented, smarter, or better than anyone else. Humble and gracious leaders know this - they are clueless.

@bj , I too don't understand the hybrid and soon to be 4 day work week.

There are germs everywhere, some people have loud voices while talking on the phone. Conference room are "busy" status and no warm body is sitting in the conference room.

I'm not surprised this is happening. It was in amplify in March, bold, small print on days in office.

Still thinking on leaving the firm after being a tenured associate. I just can't take it anymore. LOL

My entire team is remote. We have contractors and consultants who are remote. Why is there this push for HO to be in the office? If you want 100% of people in the office, fire all the remote workers and bring everyone back in. It’s really awful to be in my cubeless space - no privacy, germs everywhere, and people zooming to all the people on their remote teams. It’s punishment for those who live close to campus. One of the people I work with who is remote isn’t even working 80% of the time. And brags about it.

Announcement coming tomorrow. 4 days starting June 2026.

Yet another turdsicle in the stocking on top of all the bumbled enterpise reimagined nonsense. And more of that to come in 2026, too…

Merry Christmas all! Hugs and kisses, PP, DC and SM.
