At that rate (10K 2026, 5K 2027), a VZ employee will be a RARITY!
@13h not all of them. Frontier has a significant craft population and they are protected by the union. They may be offered surpluses here and there (admin type jobs) but will escape largely unscathed (techs). Vz will eliminate all the corporate redundant jobs.
All of the Frontier employees will be RIF'ed. This is how VZ rolls.
They buy a company for its assets, not people. Remaining VZ employees will be tasked to figure it all out and integrate Frontier into all the VZ cr-p systems.
Wait and see.
@pb Rubbish! If you add up your numbers that would mean Verizon would have less people then T-Mob within the United States and T-Mob is a cellular only company whereas Verizon is the largest cell and wire-line and fiber services. According to you Verizon will be able to expand and maintain it's networks with less people than T-Mob... which is HIRING by the way! I know on our department, in our region if one more person is out we can't actually functions as a FO team and maintain the network without having down times for more than 24 hours. You can't work people 24x7 you know and you have to have someone on-call. If we have one more person leave this would mean that it will take myself and the other three FOE 8 hours to drive to some outages. Kid you not! We were NOT touched because of this very reason and I know other regions that are the in the same boat as us!
(Definitely confirmed) when the 13,000 - 2025 Layoffs were announced.
- It will be a combination of Verizon, and Frontier employees.
The new CEO has already indicated that Verizon does (not) need, or (nor) want to keep the extra headcount.
Employees are (not if) a line-item expense due to cost of salary, and benefits.
2026 - 10,000 target
2027 - 5 000 target.
