Has anyone successfully had their unemployment benefits claim extended in Cali?
My benefits run out soon and not much luck finding anything.

To answer the original question, I don’t live in Cali. But in my state, you are finished once you run out of unemployment. There is no extension unless there is a federal extension. That certainly doesn’t seem to be on the horizon. But you can’t ask for an extension because you’ve been looking for a job but haven’t found anything. And once you are no longer collecting, you are not counted in unemployment statistics. So in that sense it is a double whammy. I am not going to swear you wouldn’t get an extension but it doesn’t seem likely.
@a3 now wtf has that having to do with an extension?
@ a1 - eat a snickers. what a terrible thing to say. the job market right now is attrocious for most people, regardless of skills, qualifications, etc.
i know so many people who highly skilled in their area with years of experience who've been looking for and applying for everything and still have yet to land even a lesser paying position.
it took me almost a year exactly to find ANYTHING and i accepted a job making about 1/2 of what i did at WF (knowing that wells pays extremely high wages)
i hope you are never in this situation and have to eat your own nasty words.
OP - good luck! i've found that going thru a recruiter was the best way to get any sort of visibility for a position. otherwise you are up against hundreds of people and the hr scanning software.
I'd much rather have a job then unemployment given that for me unemployment would amount to but a small fraction of my actual salary.
Research shows that people miraculously tend to suddenly find jobs immediately after their unemployment ends, regardless of how many weeks they're given. Funny how the gravy train ending suddenly makes all those jobs people think they're too good to work an option.
