Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

15 min meeting

Following today's announcement, I am seeking clarification regarding Thursday's schedule. I observed that two individuals, including myself, are not scheduled for a 15-minute meeting, while three colleagues and my Associate Director are scheduled for such a meeting around 1:00 p.m., and another meeting at 3:45 p.m. Has there been any communication regarding the purpose of these two meetings, or do they signify a potential change in my employment status? I would appreciate any insights from an Associate Director or Senior Director. Thank you in advance.

If you are going to a 15 minute you will be being notified in mass that you are impacted. Non salery will be given the day off.

I have had to RIF team members in the past year. Individual notification calls are scheduled for the morning, HR is notified when these calls are complete and then those not impacted are notified. I scheduled a team call for those not impacted after everyone impacted and HR were notified.

@ab I’m thinking the RIF survivors will be used and abused. Yes you’ll continue to receive a paycheck but your life may turn into he-l on earth.

Meeting could go either way. 1) Let the RIF casualties know…or 2) let the survivors know what additional work they’ll be taking on.

@a3 Not everyone comes in at 8 or 9am. A lot of us are scheduled to start shifts later in the day.

What do you mean today’s announcement?

Usually notifications happen between 8 to 9, 10 the latest. The people who will be impacted will have to be notified early and their access is turned off.

Both my manager and AD have more 10-15 minute meetings every week than they do direct reports. So telling using the “calendar” method is going to be damn near impossible.

Those invitations won't go out until early in the morning Thursday. These are HR directions. Stop speculating

Affected employees will receive phone calls between 8-10am, and survivors will get about a 45 minute heads-up for a 15 minute “business update” meeting where HR and ADs or above tell you who was let go. This usually occurs about 11am.

If you’re let go, you’ll likely get to leave work early on Thursday and won’t be expected to come in on Friday.

Don’t speculate it will be a call and finish by 12 est.

That probably means they are gone and you’re safe? Who is your Sr. Director? Give us the initials
