Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Passive Income Stream

Are employees at Wells Fargo working for a passive income stream? I have never been in a place where workers are so inefficient. Whining, gossiping, mediocrity and chit-chat...rip off the band-aid like Musk did at Twitter, total culture gut-job.

The "A" players are long gone. They've been gone for a long time and have taken their knowledge and experience with them. New people who are any good are not sticking around.

The lowest performers are entrenched and are not going anywhere.

Many - MANY - of the remaining performers have their eyes on retirement, and are just dealing with the frustrations, knowing that the situation (for them) is temporary.

This thing isn't going to get fixed.

They run off the smart and driven people by inhibiting innovation and growth mindset. All the cr---y processes, red tape, roadblocks that high performers need removed to do a good job leaves us with mediocrity. Either they beat those people into feeling helpless and settle to provide the minimum or enable them to find a better environment.

The culture here is awful now.

Often the worst are kept around because the manager doesn't want to deal with HR and what follows. The manager also doesn't have tools or resources to help the worst get better, especially when there is no incentives. The worst get to keep on going without risk of losing their job.

Because of this, the better performers (or even the large middle of genuinely nice people who are pushovers) are expected to pull more weight without much incentives in terms of promotions/pay/etc.

Then the better performers turn into some of those whiny people.

When I started many years ago there used to be the one or two you'd wonder about, how they even got dressed in the morning and were able to be also employed at WF. Now it is staggering the numbers of people.

WF has simply done poorly in supporting their workforce and is never in front of trends. They are sloppy and inconsistent.

The only way to fix is to make everyone a sacrificial lamb and start over. Build a new culture with new people who aren't tainted by the toxicity of what was before.

Completely! "Whining, gossiping, mediocrity and chit-chat..."

It was like I was working with a bunch of high-schoolers - or more like grade-schoolers. You had the bullies and the gossips, and one woman held both roles. I couldn't stand it.

"Whining, gossiping, mediocrity and chit-chat..."

Accurate description of what happens in-office. Good call OP. Viva la Resistance.
