Are the accommodations reps aiming to lack empathy and to be perceived as demeaning?
This is a serious question. I’ve never been talked to so lowly by another employee in the entire 10+ years I’ve worked here.
Anyone else have this experience?

Glad my post got some attention.
I concede that not all accommodations are frivolous, and I also concede that not all people who request accommodations are lazy. Actually I’m quite confident some of them are harder working than me.
My intention was to offer an explanation as to why some of those reps might be rude. The bottom line is that many who they deal with ARE lazy and frivolous. So I’m sure they get pretty sick of it.
I had an accommodation and they were very nice and respectful. They requested a lot of comprehensive documentation and I provided all that they needed. It was time consuming, but I never had an issue.
I have a medical accommodation until June. Nobody has said anything because they know my reason. I guess it depends how mature your coworkers are.
Despite your attitude and your low regard for the rest of humanity, I hope none of you who are lacking empathy need to request an accommodation because of a medical condition.
Trust me, we would rather be a normal person again and be able to commute.

I bet they deal with one real accommodation request out of 10. The other nine are frivolous attempts. This can weigh in a person.
A telltale sign of low intellect and the world passing someone by is the assumption that people don’t work when they are remote. Anyone touching a real workflow would know that your take is truly baseless.

Yes. They are demeaning and rude. I think there are a lot of legitimate reasons for a person to receive an accommodation. HR also probably deals with a lot of people who are just trying to avoid RTO. This has probably made them somewhat jaded, and that comes through in the way they communicate with people.

How sad to be so angry and presumptuous with something that clearly doesn’t pertain to you.
Just talk back to them the way they’re talking to you. Level the playing field.
You’d start to get demeaning too if you had to deal with whiners who don’t wanna work.
