Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Would you give up your bonus in exchange for a guarantee not to be laid off?

Honestly, I would. I got a solid bonus last year (mid 30K). I have no idea what my bonus will be this year (got a Meets), but if I was given the choice of 1) a bonus, or 2) not being laid off this year, I'd take option 2. Too much anxiety about waiting for some aimless blade to come down based on some algorithm, laying off good and bad workers with little business rationale.

Most of us just want to do good work and not be laid off for it.

Having confidence in your skills DOES matter. Being confident in them doesn’t create job security in your existing position, it facilitates landing the next position if needed.

Live below your means and I promise you that your anxiety about layoffs will go down significantly.

I'm talking eliminating debt as much as possible and maintaining a very low debt to income ratio for any borrowing you do choose, and save 6 months living expenses at a minimum.

If you're slave to the lender or your monthly bills,Charlie owns you.

No way I would give up my bonus for that “security” - Matter of fact, I hope they lay me off at the end of this year or Q1 2024, over 20 years is long enough with this hostile and unethical soul sucking corporate he-l. I’m ready for a change to finish out my working career.

Confidence in your abilities doesn’t matter. There is no safety at any company. I was the best producing member on my team and a source of information. I spoke up about some questionable interpretation of job titles and benefits and was shown the door. I still think there were some ethics issues related to who received certain benefits at this other company, but I was confident they needed me.

No. In fact, if I don't get my bonus, I will be securing another job.

Bonus is discretionary......you never know when WF will take if off the table! Be happy if you are eligible.
So given the choice --I would just like a sweet annual merit increase.
I wish WF used a formula that was fair to all of us--I truly believe mgrs give more to their "favorites"

Have some confidence in your skills man.

And if you don’t…Time to skill up

Don’t end up like the Enron ppl who just wanted job “security”

He-l no, Wells Fargo isn't the only company in the world. I am not getting laid off but if I was, I would happily take my eight weeks of severance, find another job quickly, and enjoy my life. Just keep your resume up to date and connect with a few recruiters on LinkedIn.

100% would give up my bonus to ensure not being laid off. I do know my worth, but the guarantee of being able to provide for my kids is far more important than any bonus.

Not being laid off could mean making you miserable to the point where you quit.

Good to see that many who are still at WF have no confidence about their own self-worth. Makes it easier for WF to keep them around until its ready to lay them off.
