Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Layoffs next week

keep your eyes peeled for that impromptu meeting next week. I'm hoping for some kind of email - followed by access cut - followed by a conference call. I'm excited. I've never been through a WF layoff.

@2ovr+1kF3pIEB The risk teams have been letting themselves go, they can’t keep anyone employed at this point. Attrition is out of control

Dir. here, the 9,000 figure was bank-wide, so specifics given. Corp. Sec., HR, Conduct, etc. on call, so not hard trying to figure out purpose of call.

Let the risk teams go. They are useless, you can tell by how often WF goes to court.

@1yhr+1kF3pIEB Hey, Dir. Is the 9000 related to just home mortgage and the press release about exiting correspondent lending and shrinking servicing? Or was the 9k overall non-specific bank reduction goals?

@1edi, what are you trying to say?

9000 is a pretty big number. We'll see if HR can keep up. In my experience, they won't.

Risk will be thinned out for sure. They’ve done a cr**py job of mitigating risk for WF.
The fact that WF accumulates fine after fine is proof of that.

Yep, tech is gone.

I think getting laid off from a high technical position is not so concerning as being laid off from other types of jobs. Seems there are like thousands of new jobs posted for technical programmers, but not so easy to get a new job for others. It is NOT fun getting laid off from Wells Fargo, even with high technical skills. There are LOTS and LOTS of other qualified job candidates posting for all of those open job positions. Be ready. Get resume updated. Make your list of job search sites, consulting companies, etc. to contact when laid off.

3/4 of all tech positions will be let go.

I get a funny feeling we’re about to get a wake up call here in the PNW. The pipelines have but a trickle in them for PMLs. My colleague was smart enough to see the writing on the wall and jump ship Jan 1

I've said it before and I'll say it again - if you get a random meeting request from your manager on a Thursday morning, just report it as spam and move on with your day.

Big tech cuts Feb, May, near year end. Not limited to lending tech.

Doubt if it will be next week. HR doesn’t work that fast. I would guess end of next month.

The team that will know by sure, in addition to HR is corporate security they are responsble for building access and security. Someone already alluded to that in this thread.

I know there is a decent population on this board (me included) who would welcome a layoff and severance package. There are A LOT of people that this would be devastating to. Please, reach out to your co-workers and friends that do get impacted with compassion. I have several people in my circle who know they will be let go and it's eating at them. Offer support and kind words to those who need it. That is all.

The issue is that the people they need to dump won't leave, the people leaving are the ones who got fed up. We have too many people who have been sitting around waiting for "leaders" to make up their mind as the shuffle the chairs on the deck.

Dir. here, on a call today I heard 9,000 cuts by June, nothing on 2nd half of year. This came from a team who would need to know this to do their jobs and protect the bank, that’s about all I can say. No details on which biz group or Ent. Function.

The earnings call was interesting - big shareholders were SUPER interested in headcount reduction and share buybacks.

But Charlie basically said it would take some time to shut operations down for mortgage business - there will likely be additional cuts across the enterprise, so here is hoping.

Im with the other post - hoping 2023 is FINALLY the year we get our severance package and be done with this place.

Here is to hoping!!!

Fake News? Did you listen to the earnings call?

Headcount has already been reduced by 11% with more to come in Q1 '23. Over $350M for severance expenses.

Amazing how people don't participate in their own company and then complain, complain, complain.
