Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

2023 Priorities. #1 on the list is to........

  1. Manage lower headcount while maintaining cap-labor.

There you have it, straight from leadership. Layoffs will be happening within 60 days.

Anyone notice the common thread through all of those poor decisions, horrible acquisitions, and having our a-s handed to us by Verizon during iPhone launch? They were all Stinkey's projects. And look where that got us.

Get rid of the unneeded workers. Don't want to have workers with work for them.

This has me thinking about all the major blunders that have destroyed our Market Cap:

  1. T-Mobile deal
  2. Time Warner acquisition
  3. DirecTV acquisition
  4. CDN/ Data Center acqusition
  5. Not having the bandwidth to support everything iPhone could do.

So many huge blunders.

Some time ago Randell held up a cell phone in a Town Hall meeting and stated "AT&T is a wirelesh company" He said "wirelesh, not wireless. Then wireless became a commodity. AT&T infused number 4, T mobile with 4 Billion in cash and much more than that in "Sheptrum" as Randy called "spectrum". So T Mobile and Sprint combined and took the the spot as the 2nd largest wireless carrier in America.
Good job Randell! How may we reward you??
Randell, in his wise vision decided that telecom was a failing business and AT&T needed to venture into something that NOONE at AT&T had any competency in. MEDIA. Didn't stop the egos at the top thinking they would be Media giants as the ground was shifting right under their feet to a video on demand and a streaming environment. Well let's double down and buy Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) company and then incur more debt by purchasing Warner Media. Any one with with a teenager in the house (our future customers) could tell you that NONE of them watch "must see TV". They stream everything on every device including a smart TV. Guess how they get those streams?? The internet.. If only "leadership" could monetize this.
Enter John Stankey to make this right after Randell was asked to leave... He didn't make anything right. AT&T went from having reasonable debt to being the MOST indebted company in the United States in less than 7 years.
This is the "leadership" we are dealing with and we will pay the price. Work hard, put in extra hours, forgo any family time, you will be handsomely rewarded...

T will continue to shed people as long as possible. They have no idea how to generate revenue growth, it’s all but over here. Look at the systems we have to support infrastructure and customers…laughable, rather embarrassing. Customers rate T services and support as industry sub par…you can get away with that when you are the cheapest…but we aren’t…we are premium priced hot dogs. Sales orgs self report their results with huge breakage and highly questionable practices ignored by senior leaders, engineering teams cob together projects, billing teams issue credits for our inability to deliver or generate correct bills, retail closures and shift to authorized retail for a third of the cost, no investment in advanced technology for company or customers and on and on and on. The company is burning cash and can’t lift the debt as market share shrinks as fast as margins. There is not one single positive sign here…buckle up folks. Wallstreet is looking the other way on T……waiting and hoping to scoop up the nearly worthless leftovers.
