Now, people are talking about 12/2. I've asked my director and she's saying it is not happening, we are all done - what are your thoughts?

@jc Sure they'll look at badge swipes. And maybe upper management pushes down enforcement to the lower manager levels. But (as a manager) do you really think you want to / or have the time to nitpick on one of your team because they didnt come in 5 days a week? Nah, theyll protect their team and push back on mgmt, otherwise they wont have a team in time, and they'll be seen as the a-ole. No one wants that.
And as an employee, do you really think youre going to get written up because youre not handcuffed to your desk at 1515 five days a week? What about the work you produce? Doesnt that count for something?
Theyll try to enforce it, but in the end its unenforceable. This place is not Amazon, or Meta, or JPMorgan, places where youre too afraid to make waves because you want to protect your crazy stock options and bonuses.
@ja Fridays 1515 is already a ghost town on Fridays. I can’t fathom people suddenly coming in 5 days unless it’s really enforced with badge swipes being looked at.
@ex "Enforced" is the key word there. If you read that recent WSJ article quoting an HR head, it said the intent of companies who mandate 5 day RTO are for shadow layoffs, and once the dust settles, management doesnt usually bother high performers who come in 2-3 days.
Round 2 should take place in the octagon
I also bet a decent number of people decide to quit in January when RTO is in effect. No point in quitting now if your made it through this round of layoffs unless you have something else lined up. I'm very curious how the RTO mandate goes and hows it's enforced. There are teams and individuals who go into he office maybe once a month and that's being generous.
I also heard 3/2/26 as the layoff date for streaming engineering
@ck Intl' has been hit partially, but we know there's more to come. It depends on each country's legislation. In Europe, we are expecting movements in two weeks/a month.
@bh March 2nd round, streaming engineering will be impacted. They are delayed due to the convergence project.
@bh >The remaining 1000 are RTO opt ins + quitters + remaining intl lay offs that can’t be let go by Oct following their local policies.
Intl has been already hit, UK for example, and they already have 2-3 months of notice. So this information is not correct.
My manager re-assured to the team there is no 2nd round. All the 1000 affected were let go today. The remaining 1000 are RTO opt ins + quitters + remaining intl lay offs that can’t be let go by Oct following their local policies.
@be Every group was affected in round 1 stupid.
i heard any group affected in round 1 isn't subject to round 2
DEC 2ND
@OP From what I’ve heard, round 2 of layoffs is coming March 2026, supposedly around the same time as the second round of the RTO mandate.
After 1st round of knockdowns, there shouldn’t be a 2nd round.
ok, 2 hours, 2k views. hahahah. the whole company is on this thread.
@ae why make things up? Do you have nothing better to do?
Next big round is June 2026
There are some rumors swirling that the second round will focus more on international employees. Has anyone also heard this or will the second round affect US based employees? Curious if teams that have been hit this round could also be hit during the second round.
Round 2 with another 1000 is printed in the L.A. Times, so it's a bit more than rumor.
My expectation is LA Times has sources inside confirming more layoffs "at a future date", but have asked for anonymity for obvious reasons.
DE didnt put anything about doing in batches in our Email . But during quarterly earnings call he definitely will be giving those information to his shareholders.
So if we didn't get answer from him then we need to look out for Variety/ Deadline article or quarterly results on Nov 10 .
Sad state of employees.
@a1 this is so laughably naive.
Sometimes the cause of layoffs is unfettered capitalist greed, and the only recourse is to starve to death like so many Americans did during the great depression and will under Trump's big beautiful Depression 2.0.
I am unsure about timing.
I am 100 pct sure it'll happen soon.
I know it's never a one and done kind of action.
