What type of communication has been received by those who think they will be let go? I have heard from someone that they will be told details at the end of day from their manager on 10/29 and also would need to meet before business hours in person on 10/30. Leads this person to believe the will be let go…thoughts?

Received an email at 3:45 CST from offshore leadership. Subject, "Catch Up". In OI.
I’ve done this at optum insight before and was laid off myself and here’s the deal. Your manager has known for weeks, they work with HR and the VPs as nauseum on the list, savings, script, where to send you for resources. I always set it up as a 1:1 and made it for earlier in the day so that the person didn’t work a full day, I also didn’t enjoy this at all and felt horrible, so wanted it over with myself. When I got laid off, he did it at 4pm after we got off a call together. It was brutal. So long as they do it before end of day, that is all Hr asks of management. Good luck
@ep
Who?
@ar
This comes of as violent... Just saying hope you had a typo here
@ep who and what department?
One VP RIF’d already
Any insight into impact on OA?
@ar ummmmmm what??? Can you clarify because the way I took that is probably not the way you meant it. Thank you.
@bz same
I’ve been treated differently the past month
I think AI does the calls now
@an hi, you mentioned Wellmed will be hit hard, can you share what part of Wellmed? Like clinicians, CBO or other?
@an what departments or market?
@an claims dept for sure
Now that every other employer in the Twin Cities is doing layoffs my .357 retirement plan is all I have left if they cut on Thursday. Keep chugging every one. Yuck.
My manager and hemorrhoid have know for 2 months. It makes me sick how they take about it on calls like these people are just basic casualties of doing business here at Optum. They have lists they review at nauseum with human capital partners and cut throat VPs who seriously sit around and boss people around all day. These VPs should be the first to go, too many chiefs and not enough Indians on my team and I am desperately seeking a way out. Each day grows more and more painful to listen to the fake empathy and micromanagement bs, good riddance.
@am Obviously not everyone has the same start time.
I heard 500 layoffs. Wellmed going to be hit hard.
@aa there’s no reason to not be logged in by 8:00am!
@ah I'm a 28 my vp knew didnt tell me as the manager until 430 pm the Wednesday before. Set times next morning for 8am did it as a group because it was an entire department. But they can do 1:1
@ah 29. Yeah, my 30 knew and was the one who gave the news. So at least I didn’t have to do it.
@ag
What GL were you? I was a 30 and knew for weeks
@ab I’m a manager who did not know when they cut my team. Next level up knew. And it was done before noon, for us.
There are two ways they are done. When I have had to lay folks off it was done 1:1 with each member of my team. When I got laid off 3 years ago it was a group layoff from our GL32. I was fortunate to get rehired 2 days later
@aa it’s before noon local employee’s time. When my team got hit, invites went out at 15 min increments. EST employee first, PST last. A GL 30 confirmed this was intentional.
@a9
Managers of those impacted have known for weeks, I promise you.
@a6
VERY heavy OT impact. The largest since 2018, when I lost 40% of my team. It's going to be very wide and deep. I pray for those affected who need and want their job.
Sadly I've done this numerous times. All managers of those being let go already know, I promise you, they have known the names for weeks. The packages take time to get together and customize for each impacted employee. NO emails have been sent, they are sent the morning of the layoffs, around 8AM CDT. HR wants 100% of the releases to be done by 10AM CDT.
@a9 Is that 8:00 local time for each employee? It seems like some employees may not be logged in yet or it may be before their working hours depending on time zone.
managers are notified Wednesday for layoffs will be Thursday at 8 AM. That’s how it’s usually done over the last la last year of layoffs.
I believe it … just heard there are massive layoffs this Thursday.. but nothing more..
Brutal.
