Not counting people on coaching and PIP. THAT'S ANOTHER WAY TO PUSH PEOPLE OUT. no package needed.

pro tip: They don't file WARN until they lay you off. that is why you get a 2 month "look for an internal job" goose chase.

hole looped.

No specific California WARN notices have been filed in October 2025 that are publicly available, but new state laws signed in October 2025 will change notice requirements for mass layoffs starting January 1, 2026. Employers will need to provide more details about their coordination of services like rapid response orientations and include information about CalFresh, a food assistance program. The existing 60-day notice requirement remains in effect.
What changed in October 2025
New notice requirements: California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 617 on October 1, 2025, which modifies the Cal-WARN Act.
Effective date: These new rules become effective for mass layoffs, terminations, and relocations that occur on or after January 1, 2026.
Additional information needed: Employers must now include in their notices whether they plan to coordinate job-seeking services with the local workforce development board, a different entity, or no one.
More details required: Notices must also include specific contact information for the local workforce development board and a description of the rapid response activities they offer.
CalFresh information: Notices must also include information about CalFresh, California's food assistance program.
How to find existing WARN notices
California Employment Development Department (EDD): The EDD processes WARN notices and makes data publicly available. You can view recent reports on their website.
WARNTracker.com: Websites like WARNTracker.com compile and track layoff notices filed with the state, though this is crowdsourced data and may not include all notices.
