Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Loss of Confidence in CEO

We are hearing inside whispers that some on the board, executive committee, and rank and file are starting to lose confidence in "T" Brown Duckett. She came in 2021 on a DEI high with lots of fanfare to replace Roger Ferguson who was snake bit at the end by mounting scandals and lawsuits. Now, with outflows at record highs, massive over spend by the Frisco experiment, and mounting legal and PR challenges, some are contending that Duckett step aside so that a turnaround artist can take charge of the helmless sinking ship to right it's course. We are hearing decisions will be made in the next 18 months on a possible sea change of direction.

The issue is it is not just CEO. It’s most of if not the entire ELC too. This regime has bad and incompetent leaders at the top and all levels within. If board drops tbd they have to send more packing. And they need to do it with as little financial impact as possible - ie no severance for them. All these queen B’s made fortunes off the hard labor of the backs of us worker bees, many of who are struggling to live paycheck to paycheck.

You can still get bit and poisoned by venom if you cut off the head off a snake. But how many other snakes exist in the ELC and below…?

@jz sounds like this has struck a raw nerve and you sound like one of T Ducks lackeys. Maybe even T Duck herself. There is $18M reasons to depart with an over paid, over hyped, and under performing CEO. Steak over Style. Substance over Sizzle. Shizzle a Kazzizle. Snoop Dogg over Puff Daddy. T Duck F_ck S_u_cks.

My sense is that Duckett is not in immediate trouble, but I have heard some whispers that her schtick internally might be starting to wear thin and that glow she once had is being seem through to a hollowing out core. Rumors are persisting that there needs to be someone who can roll up their sleeves and understand the business and execute. I'm hearing execs from Empower, Fidelity, Blackrock and others with a strong AI focus being looked at unofficially and off the Puff Daddy Record talk track.

  1. 18 months- that is when T's contract is up...2. Denver is closing and nothing is changing to save jobs in Denver. 3. The move to Frisco is done....period. 4. You have a choice: continue to complain or find work elsewhere. 5. I call BS also..

"We are hearing" Who are the sources?

"turnaround artist can take charge of the helmless sinking ship to right it's course"
Herb Allison was a turnaround artist brought in to take charge of the helmless sinking ship in 2002. Be careful what you wish for.

This would be a miracle scenario. This company’s morale is in the dirt. Everyone is OPENLY talking about how awful the atmosphere is ANYWHERE you go now, online or in the office, even on phone calls, no joke.

@df can we imagine if they made the interim CEO the former head officer of Sean "Puff Daddy Ditty" Combs enterprises the current CAO of TIAA ? Talk about bringing down da house and raisin the roof.

So true! Having no CEO would be better at this point.

It’s not a dog whistle if you’re objectively terrible at your job. Grow up and be an adult. Performance matters and T’s is abysmal at best. She lost the company “locker room” a loooooong time ago. It’s time for her to step down.

I'm so tired of hearing these back-door racist dog-whistle comments claiming DEI hires. Please find another basis for ranting about a place you're miserable in.

I also call BS.

But if true. Can it be sooner so the new CEO can stop the madness of these layoffs? Maybe one with a clue that most people can do this work remotely and maybe save half the Denver jobs if you can’t put them in a cheaper office?

Gonna su-k for all of us left behind and they could change the severance policy right after the July wave as it is in need of an update by then per audit requirements.
