I saw information that the number of reports under a manager is being reviewed. Any news? What does this mean?

Any manager must have a spam of control of 8 to 12. Any less and you should think about how you change this.
If you are in PD, you must also be developing code.

Tons of people have been let go at Visa. I would want to see the numbers and have it posted.
Folks would be shocked at the numbers.
@120 it’s called Karma. That’s what really happened. You let good people go in November of 2024 and protected people who you liked and shouldn’t have been in the department to begin with. Has nothing to do with diversity.
I know of several people who were let go in November 2024, for no reason. No write-ups- one even received an award for outstanding work. Senseless. But others were protected in CIT and really shook the department.

@bz respected? When you get to your position by threatening diversity, you lose a lot of respect . Take it from me…I know a lot about that.

@10p most have been laid off in this horrible job market and others are afraid of being let go. You’re asking for advice to get a promotion? How sensitive of you. That might be something to discuss with your manager or higher if you dare.
I am a senior manager whose role has expanded considerably this year. I was hoping for an expanded role promotion in the next year. Is that not in the cards now? What does justification look like now to get to Director level?
@OP It's the continuing effort by our consulting house CEO to remake the company to have a very defined hierarchy with a few higher level positions and the rest lower paid "manager" positions. Cleaning out most Directors. A lot of Sr Directors will be next...all backfilled by lower cost Manger and Sr. Manager positions, none of which qualify for equity stock as a part of their bonus structure.
October is upon us so that means if there are layoffs, it’s likely coming soon. Also annual reviews are coming so they will make up fake bad reviews just to put in your review if they want to lay you off.

I imagine for a similar reason as last year, where, in my division at least, any people manager who did not have at least five direct reports was axed.
