I’ve worked in claims for some time now, was hopeful this would be where I could retire at. Mainly curious to see any recommendations on what should I do before I put my 2 weeks in.

Don't turn in a notice. Stop working and see how long until they say something. Then give notice.

I knew FMLA as unpaid leave, so I googled considering responses here. I will assume some responding mean Short-term Disability vs FMLA. Here was Google result:

Be careful though...fmla is unpaid time off. You'd have to also get STD paperwork filled out if you'd want to be paid if you dont have PTO. And depending on how it's filled out it can be denied.
Do not put in your 2 weeks. Any employee who does that is never allowed to finish their 2 weeks, they will ask you to leave and turn in your equipment same day. I would go out on FMLA, find another job in the six weeks you’re paid and then quit when your FMLA runs out

@aw that's what I've been doing after my boss backstabbed me and promoted a clown who took credit for my work by smooth talking her. Actually making more, now that I focus on my side business.
Don't backstab the people that are actually knowledgeable and remove people who're incompetent, early, rather than them playing politics, taking credit and ruining team morale.
If you have a pension don’t quit. Just do the least about possible and milk that pension. Free money thanks to the policy holders.

Go to the IRS web-site or google it! It can and usually does increase the amount to taxable income and higher tax rate

Heck no, go to the doctor and get approved for 12 weeks of FMLA protection. Stress leave! That gives you three months to try out the new job. If you like it, just never come back. If it turns out to be worse than SF, you have a job to come back too! You can collect a double paycheck if you have PTO. If you leave and they pay you out for PTO it will be taxed at 39%. If you get it as income it is taxed a lot less!
Adding to the above comment. Be sure to put your last day 2 weeks in the future. Dont expect them to give you 2 weeks pay if you put the day of the notice as the last day.
So example. Tender the letter 9/22 effective 10/6
Make sure you tell them you got a job with a competitor so they send you home for those 2 weeks with pay
