So the company is going to can all remote only positions and won’t hire for any in future? Even if you are not anywhere near an office? Or is RTO only for hybrid workers and remote being removed for them?

RTO seems to be for everyone, regardless if you were originally hired as a remote worker. Doesn’t sound like any exceptions will be made. If they make an exception for one, they will have to make other exceptions i.e employees in NY or LA that need flexibility to WFH one day. If they make an exception for one, what type of message is that sending. I am not saying I agree.
RTO is for everyone.
And they could lose top 50% of talent by q3 2026
With mandatory RTO even for remote workers by 3rd quarter of 2026 , there is no reason they will hire someone new for remote only positions
