Welcome to corporate America where they're laying off thousands today and will be onboarding new hires tomorrow...

I wish people would somehow get the message that there is no loyalty or reciprocity at Oracle. You got paid when the numbers worked for the company. When they didn't, you get let go. That's it. People have to stop being so shocked when they're let go. The trick is to give it your all when you're there, but always be prepared to have it all go poof at any time. Take care of you and your family first, THEN your big corporate employer (who barely knows who you are).

What about the salary you earned over 27 years? Your services were needed, and you were paid for them. Now that your services are no longer required, you’ve been let go. In the end, we’re treated as nothing more than a row in an Excel spreadsheet

You are simply an employee unless you own a business. Oracle doesn't know, or care, how much value you bring. It's a good lessson to learn at age 27 - do your job, but don't go above and beyond.
