now that dec 1 has passed and people are off the book. how many people did we lose to retirements/ job cuts?

With all the inefficiency built into the SE digital technician position I don’t see any layoffs coming. Most jobs are returned after the first visit due to the records being wrong of what equipment or fiber is currently onsite or sales has done some dishonest tactics to sell service that is not really wanted or agreed to or an afternoon or morning install that cannot be accommodated. There is simply no way that AT&T is making money having us drive around town returning 50 percent of our jobs. If they ever got it together and provided good training for technicians and hired actual detail oriented engineers instead of contractors whose last job was god knows what. ATT could have layoffs but we are a looong way from efficient.
Don't all those dogshid install tech titles top out at like $26 an hour?
Check the AT&T/careers website to see all of the positions available for hire. There are many positions for hire on the technician side of the spectrum.

I think you are wrong because installation technician who are wire-technicians previously called premises technicians do not have a core contract like FTs and STs, wire tech get 2 weeks pay and a handshake at most, company do not have to inform union about wire tech layoffs at the beginning of the quarters like core techs. In 2019 after the managers layoff wave they it was the turn of the wire techs in our market just for the company to turn around few month later and rehire who they could because the fiber network was expanded and again ones all those areas were served we had technicians sitting doing nothing all day, cleaning PFPs, CrossBoxes and running fiber in old appartements.
Wire techs definitely get the short end of the stick.
The aren’t hiring any NTS’s off the street. They are posted in ATS for legacy employees first, and then to the rest of the company through the National Transfer Plan. Those jobs rarely, if ever, go to people off the street. There has been a hiring freeze on those jobs since July, with the exception of 3 positions that were listed last month in Arizona.
T is having a very difficult time filling the NTS positions due to the type of work, the demands of the job and the job schedules. The positions are being offered outside the company because nobody internally wants to take the job.
Those installation jobs are entry level revolving doors due to work life balance and toxic environment to make nearly impossible MSOC numbers so the managers can get a bonus, the technician doesn’t get to share in the bonus. Seen many come and go with little training and support but written up all the time for the slightest infraction then fired. Even most 1st line mgrs are treated like dirt, it didn’t used to be this way pre SBC days.
It’s easier for people to work fast food or retail for nearly the same pay. They don’t have to endure all the 365 forced Unscheduled OT, physical, difficult working conditions in all kinds of elements and a mentally toxic environment.

Not that many. Haven’t heard about too many lower level retirements yet. Though most I have heard waited until last minute to announce it. I think most folks stayed put. Sadly I think many of those folks will get the pension hit and then find out they also get laid off. Just because that’s how it goes. I would retire tomorrow if I could and I’m in my 40s. No way I’m sticking around into my 60s and 70s working like some folks I work with.
Is this a real post ? Cmon man, the layoffs will be consistent over the next 24 months. If your hoping they are over…that’s a bad job strategy.

The work will just be passed onto those that remain. No backfill of positions and hiring freeze is in place for ATS and other orgs within AT&T.
More layoffs coming in January 2023.
No job openings planned for all the folks that have left the business. No plan to backfill any of the targeted 15K layoffs planned for 2023.
