Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

8 Months of 5x RTO

It’s been 8 months now for my group being in the office 5x per week. I’m curious what the metrics look like on what the improvements. have been. Has it been effective? Is the company more efficient? Other than more people than normal retiring or leaving the business, has it made anything better? I’m still not seeing these big collaboration meetings. Nobody meets in person.

We are now ranked #3. Previously we were #1. Verizon’s revenue exceeds ours and T mobile is catching up. Both companies are still fully remote btw.

And up to 5 days/week by the spring.

The butthurt. It is strong.

But hey, I don't blame ya. We all know the real problem: inept leadership.

@OP When a company start unfair treatment of their employees and terminate good employee with these faulty presence reports and that too under cobc, then what will happen with this company we all can understand.Until they will not stop doing unfair treatment and publicly apologize that they did wrong , this company will not grow.

who cares what Verizon is doing?

When someone is eating your lunch, you should probably pay attention.

I hate to say it but the CEO in charge isnt going to budge. Hes renovating Alpharetta here in North ATL, overhauling the entire building, all for what? So we can be hybrid... and some orgs like Legg are already hybrid. Its a ghost town on Fridays iN ATLANTA. If you are 5/8, thats just means there are a lot of boomers in your org that they need to get rid of. Stinky himself already revealed how our employees are old and need to go. Believe him.

I’d take going back to hybrid. None of our peers are full time RTO and they are all beating us. Why spend all this money on office renovations, rent, utilities and leasing space when you could save that money by doing hybrid and coordination which teams are in office when.

TMO and VZ got rid of their dead weight employees. The dead weight then went to T.

There are no metrics. You know this.

In Dallas, we have AVPs & Directors sitting in their own private huddle room all day. Zero collaboration.

@a2 so does TMO folks that we interface on weekly basis.

As long as there's more headcount to reduce they will make sure to maximize employee misery with RTO

It is legalized age-based layoffs. Nothing else. They know vanishingly small numbers of people under 40 will walk away due to being treated like call center scammers because they can't afford to leave yet. This achieves their otherwise completely illegal age discrimination plan and they can tell the courts "They chose to leave." It is evil, but it is pretty savvy from a legal standpoint. It is up to employees to take them to civil court and prove otherwise, and few are going to bother.

"You’ve identified a key benefit."

Yes, the OP identified the benefit. Of course, this is not the benefit the company stated they wanted. What the OP is asking is if any of the benefits the company publicly stated as the goals of 5x RTO been acheived. The fact that you have to restate the obvious means the answer to OPs question is, "No", none of those other goals have been acheived.
Of course, anyone with an active brain cell knew what the outcome to 5XRTO would be and what the only purpose was.

My org has been back to the office over two years now. Apparently, they thought the self-serving metrics looked great enough to inflict the same pain upon all the other orgs. There’s your answer.

You’ve identified a key benefit. Getting rid of more employees who had retired in place years ago and no longer really wanted to work.

Verizon isn’t fully remote. They do have a hybrid system, though. They mentioned it when they reached out to me.
