Nov 4 (Reuters) - Wells Fargo (WFC.N) is under pressure from the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to pay more than $1 billion to settle a slew of investigations into customer mistreatment, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The fourth-largest U.S. bank declined to comment on the report, while the CFPB did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Last week, Wells Fargo revealed that it was in talks with CFPB to settle "a number" of probes, including for automobile and mortgage lending as well as consumer deposit accounts.

I remember when we paid the last $1B CDPB fine. What a sigh of relief, we’re moving on! Penance for the sins now complete.

Apparently we thought it was license to start criming in other areas. Good thing we’re already conditioned not to expect much in bonus or merit - gotta pay for the wrong doing….again.

I laughed when I read the part about this being the largest fine from the CPB, "which broke the previous record which was also held by Wells Fargo."

What's another billion dollar fine anyway? Now just a cost for Wells Fargo doing corrupt business.

“Follow the money” wonders the guy propagandized into thinking any regulation on huge criminal financial institutions is oppression. A true critical thinker 😂

They claim fine money is redistributed to victims, but is that really true, I highly doubt it. I've never heard of a single person getting payment out of these billions in fines, have any of you? The "consumer protection" is undoubtedly a red herring. Follow the money and its likely used for power and political influence purposes.

I’d really like to know where all the fine money is going. Ukraine, India, China, Philippines, etc?
All I know, it’s not ending up in my account…

I’m getting real tired of these scandals appearing in the news almost every month. Leadership isn’t doing enough to promote better PR. They are a bunch of over paid stooges. Also, I’m getting real tired of the communications from Sol Gumby. He can cheerlead all he wants, but it’s not helping.

And??? Wells Fargo has been making at least $2 Billion Every Quarter since 2007. The whole One Wells Fargo is total bullsh-t and they should have Never combined mortgage, credit card, auto loans and banking. Wells Fargo isn't too big to fail, it will just take longer to fail. Just wait until the customers find out how many more jobs are going to India and The Philippines.... They will be switching banks soon

How are you people not surprised when they've openly said they stashed away $2b for future settlements and or fines

Fines or no fines, WFC should not be allowed to “settle” complaints and violations.

As long as the C-Suite knows that money will get them out of trouble, and that money doesn’t come out of their personal pockets, they will continue to push the limits for potential profit.

Our CEO, BOD and top execs should be under pressure to fix the problems which lead to consistent fraud, scandal, and customer abuses. No repair, no paycheck!

If they say the problematic issues can not be fully corrected within a reasonable time frame, then shut the bank down. Anything less than that should be considered unacceptable.

And how much of that billion will go to alleged victims and how much to the gov? Mmmmhmmm. The real question is, how much does Daley need to "contribute" to political campaigns to make this all go away.

It’s government extortion at this point, frivolous probes and then billion dollar settlements to get them off your back. Ridiculous what they are doing and no push back from execs?

Next target, 1 billion reduction in non-executive total comphension. We should hire more executives to figure that out. /s

I wonder what happened to the execs at the top of this pyramid scheme? Are they looking forward to Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's celebrations? Will they eat turkey or venison? Side of sweet potatoes with marshmallows?
