Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

WF hiring is a joke

It took 2 months to get interviews scheduled and the interviewers were literally reading off from a list of questions. Very weird getting all situational questions since I’m in a tech role.

No response from the recruiter afterwards then out of the blue hiring manager contacts me and says HR is not being responsive and to expect an offer. Weeks later I get an offer that’s I kid you not….20% less than the salary I asked for and was told I would need to commute into a hub 3 days a week.

So why waste my time when from the beginning I shared my salary expectations? Then recruiter says they would follow up with the compensation committee, and never heard anything. The hiring manager was following up with me trying to get this figured out but at that point I’d had enough and wanted out.

No clue how any company can hire or attract any candidates this way.

Think about this: the recruiting staff is outsourced. They get a bonus for hiring external candidates. What incentive do I have as a contract recruiter to find the BEST qualified candidate and why would I select an internal candidate? The answer is none.

Internal candidates range is 15% lower the the former midpoint, external candidates 15% over.

It would be easier if they just told internal people to not even apply - you are no longer wanted.

This pairs nicely with the external head-hunting bonus.
