I’ve been in the hiring process for two different roles, but one was stopped and the headcount was moved to a different org, and the other has been paused with no timeline
Prepare to be disappointed if looking for upward movement

So according to the website, we have over 470 corporate jobs open. Every year we do the same thing cuz we can’t plan for nothing. We waste
a bunch of people’s time internally to conduct interviews and waste peoples time externally cuz they think Nike has their sh!t together. Ya’ll in HR and Finance are a bunch of fools.

The Nike playbook is so tattered and torn. It look glossy from the outside, but nothing but moldy on the inside. I’ve worked for competitors and I’ve worked in big tech. Never have I seen the incompetence like I see here.

Come on TH, have you learned nothing? Why does this keep happening?

Same story, year after year: poor planning, bloated leadership structure, and it’s always the employees on the ground who suffer. The recruiting team is burned out, morale is low, but the brand keeps attracting talent, so this stupid cycle continues.

At some point, leadership has to own the dysfunction. Stop protecting your arrogant, no talent d-bag of a CFO.

Been at Nike for a long time and this is like a broken record. 4th quarter hiring freezes and chaos in the middle of the interviewing process is almost standard practice. I've interviewed dozens of candidates and made selections only for the req to get canceled at the last minute. And don't get me started on how badly Nike treats internal candidates. Internal promotion paths and career development died a loooonnnnggg time ago at this company, and our senior leadership lacks all credibility when it comes to this subject, especially as it relates to Nike culture that's been lost and will probably never be recovered.

On the pay note, just a heads up salaries seem to have come down. I’m getting quoted lower salaries for external roles than a year ago, so at first was mad at no raises for lateral moves but think those coming in may be Making less not more - especially now that we have more layers below director

We hired a bunch of ETW recruiters because nobody has a clue what they are doing.

And don’t even get me started on pay! Hiring cycle is on brand but when will we start paying people appropriately? Base salaries all out of whack! And yes, this may be another rough year, but many of us are (and have been) working our as--s off. To only get a fraction of PSP is a massive disservice to the employees.

This is so on brand for the Swoosh. Such a predictable cycle year over year.
Hiring freeze. Chaos in communications. Lay people off. Layoff recruiters. Hire hire hire. On repeat over and over. Get it together Nike HR and Finance.

Then why did we just hire a bunch of ETW recruiters?

I imagine it depends on the org. Some are still being built as an investment, some backfills still needed for priority roles, and this is normal time of year for hiring freeze. Is this really a surprise?

I heard this, yes. Even for open roles that had completed interviews and had offers ready to go. ETW engineers are all gone by the end of the quarter too.

Let’s freeze internships. Those are way too expensive for what they do. We just throw events at them $$$

We need more of us ETWs...we do all the work anyways.

Does this mean even for roles that were mid-interview process and for internal candidates, I wonder?

true

I heard that is true for FTEs, but we're still allowed to keep shoveling money into staffing agencies to hire ETWs.
