Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

It's hard not to become numb

I think some of us long haulers have become somewhat numb to all the scandals and ridiculous spending. It feels like almost every year the executive stooges are telling us to watch our spending and tighten our belts. IMO, WF is a virus without a vaccine.

This is sad but true. I don't think anything I hear about the bank or the people at the top shocks me anymore. It says a lot about the character of a workplace if it has managed to wear its employees down and make us numb to things others find inexcusable.

The company culture changed. I did not change. This new CEO brought his virtual whips and chains with him. I am so glad I learned to work the system, and I’m not stuck in the dungeon, as a desk jockey, in a cube farm. Speaking from experience, just wait out this CEO, because he will leave. The CEO does not care about the employees, and is only interested in mopping up the messes from previous leadership. Eventually, when new leadership takes over, it’ll be all about boosting employee morale. The pendulum will swing all the way back in the other direction, and people will love working here, again. Take it from someone who has lived a very long full life. If you can endure the low morale, now, It will pay off later on.

Y’all stressing out too much. Our team up here in Whitefish, Montana are laying low until ski season. WFH is all that, darling. Y’all hanging out in the high-rises with the caffeine jitters need to step away. Our next team meeting will be on the ski slopes. The only su---r punches are from the tree branches.
Company always has its highs and lows. When times are tough, just hang on as what goes down goes back up.
Move on over to our neck of the woods, all of our team members are happy.

@flx Way Ahead of you! Some weeks, I have to remind myself that I still work for this company. Paycheck keeps coming every two weeks, As a reminder. Have a very lethargic supervisor who cares less than I do. I’m sticking around, because I know the asset cap will be removed. Then, I’m going to cross sell like it’s 1999, again.

@ocx So true. Morale is at its lowest of all the years I’ve been here. Yes, we had the financial crisis back in 2007, but we got through it. They don’t value us. Somewhere in the back of my mind, jokingly, I keep thinking I’m going to get replaced by a robot/computerized automated process. Why anyone would want to join this company, now, is beyond me. The celebratory years are behind us. What’s left is a graveyard of perpetual zombie processes. Happy Halloween?

@wzx same. After a near decade of above-average performance that was "rewarded" with the same mediocre "raise" every year, watching "gold coin winners" who were hand-picked by management, and the buddy networks that allow people fast career tracks while the rest of us don't even get interviews, what's the point? This place is a graveyard for idealism. It's a job, nothing more, nothing less. They don't deserve anything until they start showing that they actually value us.

Management: "Be thankful you have a job"
Me: "Be thankful I do it."

It’s not easy being a long hauler at WF. Every year I keep thinking I’m going to get laid off. As every year ends, I’m still here. I used to have such passion and motivation to help make this company just a little bit better by my contribution. Now, I feel like I’m in a holding pattern. The word ‘Cross-selling’ is now taboo. Diversity, equity & inclusion has now taken its place. At the beginning, I was a star employee every year because of my contributions. Now, I’m not even an honorable mention. I’m defying the executive order of ‘out with the old and in with the new’. After all these years, I haven’t changed, the company culture changed. So, I will continue to get shuffled around until I’m either too old and obsolete or the company decides to reach into the deep pockets and pay be a nice, hefty, golden severance and send me on my way. I’ll look back and remember the good old days at WF, And kick myself for not leaving WF before the Wachovia merger and news of the fake accounts scandals.

Just think of this as typical corporate America. Just accept it and move on.

Spans & layers... then circle back and add a ton of new, useless, high paid executive roles.
