Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

When do you guys think the layoffs will start?

I’m a senior manager in network ops and am worried about getting laid off.

If you are a sr manager and you aren’t in the know… pack your bags.

If it is the 27th, all the proposals are already in and the leadership have already been briefed. It is usually done by a 3rd party now. The leadership does not have any say on how it lands until it does. Only HR has full visibility. It’s going to be a crazy week. Amazing everyone else pays for the decisions of so few. The few at the top leaves with millions and thousands in packages. Meanwhile, everyone else get 2 weeks and unemployment. Every bad decision that can be made was made by the leadership. Good look!

In the years past they used a 3rd party to determine the cuts therefore eliminating any personal feelings, its all done by analytics etc. No Sr Manager is involved or VP

Likely on the 27th. And agreed. If you're so tiny you think your Sr. Manager is the problem you have a childlike understanding of how this company works. Your anger should be directed at VP and above, the only people who have actual authority to make business changing decisions.

This is a petty and pathetic string. Are layoffs coming? Probably, and 10/27 is as good a date as any. This reduction in force lever is the quickest and most efficient method upper mgmt has to pull to make a difference to Wall St. and investors. Is there a ton of subjectivity involved? Of course there is.

For those of you wishing Sr Managers will lose their jobs - You should be ashamed of yourselves. They work their hinds off, and anyone wishing someone loses their livelihoods and ability to put food on their tables are sadists. YOU need to stare at that reflection in the mirror for some serious self reflection. Quit being petty and start being a part of something good and empathetic.

Yours Truly - PMTS

That’s a real worry. But they are hiring field techs, so there’s also a way out. Just switch hats.

The regional management team used to meet offsite to stack rank staff prior to RIF. You weren’t invited?

LOL - Senior Manager will be involved in discussions on who to layoff. I suppose when they are done then the Director could lay them off.

As a Sr. Mgr. I think you've all the good reasons to be worried about being laid off, as I believe your category is among those that bring little to nothing to the table.

Good luck to you. 10/27 seems to be the commonly repeated date.

Network Opps is a joke. 30k union workers to clean and repair wires ??? Meanwhile they have 7 layers on f managers to micro manage it for metrics lol

If your in Network Opps then you should be laid off!!! That organization is the most money wasted in the whole company. First their paying union workers too pay with benefits, pensions and overtime but at the same time hiring managers and contractors to do the union workers jobs. It’s happening everywhere. Disgrace to the Service organization

The 27th is the deadline date. Watch out for all hands on calls that are not already on your calendar. Seems to be a trend. This is when they will go over more

That’s the question we all want to know, personally I hope the rumours about it being next week are correct just to get some sort of closure
