Been within the CIB group for 3 years now but see zero to no growth here given how bad the markets technology is and the low level of risk this business takes to make any money. Leadership keeps saying they want to be the top 5 investment banking along with trading but I don’t see how that is possible with the poor systems, staff that are clueless and/or lazy and the asset cap on the balance sheet.
I tested out the market and I am getting offers in similar roles, however with the same salary at larger banks that have strong sales and trading groups. Is it worth leaving in this environment or should I stay put at wells until the recession clouds pass by while upskilling for the next role.
Also as a whole, I think the sales and trading industry is going to be a game of the the top 4 banks given the intense regulatory capital requirements so not sure how wells can compete in that.
I don’t see significant cost cutting plans within my group but then it’s filled with clueless managers who are on the path to retirement and don’t really care much about improving or growing the business.
Any tips/advice would be appreciated.
