So many of these replies are so “Stagecoach”. They don’t pay me enough, waaahhhh. Good luck with that, waaahhhh. EEOC - hilarious. They must have applied for credit is how they were found out - DUH!
None of these people either read the article, knows how employment law works or both.
You want to get paid more? Get some in demand skills and go get a better job! It is illegal, and no EEOC case will ever be won, for working for more than 1 employer during the same working hours. Equifax, and banks in a lot of cases, have more data about you that you know or can comprehend. So much data Equifax wrote a computer program, The Work Number, and it flagged the people they went on to investigate.
Equifax makes its money providing data and services to various companies. Absolutely no doubt they will start selling The Work Number to places and companies will use it just the way they did.
Kudos to the poster who mentioned that you need permission for ANY employment outside WF. It is policy and it is part of the agreement you sign when you are hired, which most don’t even remember but they have your signature. So they have two angles they can use to clean house (no severance): double dipping with work hours overlap and double dipping without approval when not overlapping.
And remember, double dippers, you’re at risk not once but twice if this software is widely adopted. Good luck explaining being fired for that.
